Investment Criteria
We partner with successful management teams
We invest in North American architecture, engineering, and related companies with up to $150 million in revenue. We look for firms that have a strong brand, multiple avenues for growth and a committed management team. We are flexible in our investment approach because we are investing our own capital; we are not beholden to the requirements of a fund or mandates handed down by limited partners.
Providus Capital Partners Team
Norm is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and managing investments made by Providus. Over his career, he has completed transactions with a combined value in excess of $500 million including over 20 transactions with architecture, engineering and construction services firms. Prior to joining Providus, Norm was a principal at Long Point Capital, a middle-market private equity firm focused on partnering with founder, family, and management-owned companies. He began his career at Harris Williams & Co., a boutique investment banking firm that provides financial advisory services to middle-market companies.
Finlay founded Cumming Group, Inc. in 1996, since which time he has grown it (both organically and through strategic acquisitions) into an international project, construction, and cost management consultancy with annual revenues exceeding $500 million. Under Finlay’s leadership, Cumming has achieved two successful private equity sales and is now with its third private equity owner. Finlay knows what it is like to be a business owner in partnership with a private equity company, because he’s successfully done it multiple times. He brings this knowledge and experience to Providus, along with his passion for helping businesses be great.
Naimish has a unique combination of experience as both an owner and an investor, having spent more than 20 years in private equity and seven years as a founder-operator. Naimish led the initial platform investment of Cumming in 2006, which also marked the beginning of the long and productive relationship between Naimish and Finlay. After a successful exit from that investment in 2016, Naimish co-founded Tru Family Dental with another member of the Providus team, Brandon Halcott. As CEO of Tru Family Dental, Naimish completed more than 20 acquisitions and grew the startup to more than $50 million in enterprise value, generating an exceptional return for investors. To date, Naimish has transacted more than $500 million in private equity partnerships.
Brandon is a lifelong entrepreneur who has built multiple successful endeavors, including Tru Family Dental, which he co-founded with Naimish. As President of Tru Family, a dental support organization with 30 offices throughout the Midwest, Brandon demonstrated an innovative ability to accelerate growth while minimizing risk, as reflected by the company’s 20 successful acquisitions. Tru Family Dental was sold in 2020, delivering exceptional returns to all stakeholders. Brandon has an MBA from Harvard Business School along with real-world business experience spanning operations, business development, marketing, and IT, giving Brandon a unique ability to understand all aspects of a business.
